Losing You!

You think my brain would want to forget you,

After all you put me through,

Yet those memories of us come flooding back,

And in the dream place I find the ones hidden at the back,

An abstract painting of what could have been,

A thousand pieces of a puzzle falling into place,

A waterfall canvas of a thousand things unseen,

And in the darkness of night as I lie there I see your face,

As everything that was wrong falls into place,

And the fight to forget you begins once again,

An endless symphony of the reprisal of the pain,

The battle lines were drawn and the battle was won,

I thought it would be over when the war was done,

Yet despite my victory the battlefield memories go on,

And I thought if I was strong and told you so long,

That would be it, I'd be looking at a brighter day,

But even now I'm chasing those demons from my mind,

And hoping memories of a failed past will finally go away,

And whilst time moves on, new friends come and old friends go,

The pain of losing you remains the hardest I've known.
